An absolutely gorgeous 1872 key date three cent silver piece graded PR 65 by PCGS. This date is in our opinion the toughest to obtain for the three cent silver series. It is in strong demand as a proof as the mint state examples are typically never offered in any grade level. We believe the close-up photos give a very accurate representation of how the coin looks in hand when being tilted in the light. This beautiful example has been housed in a PCGS Secure Label Holder.
This proof issue key date coin holds a tiny mintage of only 950. However, of this mintage the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 650 have survived in all grades today. It is one of only 62 graded Proof 65 by PCGS.
