    Description

    HK 876 SO-CALLED DOLLAR DENVER MINT OPENING – 1905
This medal was struck in 1905 at the new Denver Mint to test the new machinery and possibly new dies for a gold piece.  It was handed out as a souvenir at the official opening ceremonies. Obverse DENVER above and 1905 below, bank reverse with a beaded border.
Struck in Bronze and graded NGC MS 61 BN, silver streak in center of obverse is not a scratch, it is a piece of metal that was on the planchet before it was struck and is now embedded into the medal. Pretty cool!
