    Description

    Very rare CALIF🌅RNIA Golden State commercial vehicle plate issued in July 1987. What makes it rare? Look at the blue paint underneath the Golden State base. This was part of a small batch of plates made by the DMV that was a repurposed blue plate.
    The story goes that after blue plates were discontinued in December 1986, the DMV still had a number of blue blanks that they hadn't used. So they decided to make new Golden State plates out of them by sticking the new 3M reflective vinyl bases on top of them.
    This one is damaged, but the damage actually helps you see the blue paint underneath even better. Take a close look at the dents across the blue characters... the original blue paint is camouflaging underneath!
